ASC is both a space for artistic growth and a practical, supportive child care solution for families.
The NLArts Afterschool Collective is an out of school creative enrichment program where young artists explore creativity, play, and the world around them through hands-on projects guided by our one-of-a-kind arts curriculum, ABCD.

ABCD: Awe, Belong, Connect, Design
Our afterschool art educators lead activites that incorporate each of the following units of curriculum within ABCD:
Unit A/Awe: NLArts curriculum fosters the intrinsic sense of awe and wonder in each of us through an appreciation of the natural world and the capacity for human creativity and stewardship within it.
Unit B/Belonging: There’s room to understand and celebrate everyone’s diverse stories in the art studio. NLArts educators and students appreciate art in context–art is not just an ornament to our lives, but a positive reflection of our stories and cultures, and windows into each others’.
Unit C/Connect: At NLArts, we believe in each person’s capacity to be a creative communicator. We strengthen this muscle by making choices that reflect our preferences in artmaking, using art as a tool to share important messages, or problem solving in collaborative work.
Unit D/Design: NLArts community members use the tools we gain from our art education toward collaboratively designing environments that serve us. We, the artists, are the innovators of our collective futures, and our work has the power to create real and positive social change, and make room for play.
