Director Job Description
NLArts is seeking an experienced Director to join our organization and community to lead year round programming, focusing on summer camp for ages 4-12, and increase community engagement. Ideal candidate will be a creative, organized, team player with a positive attitude who enjoys working with children and adults in a self-managed setting.The ideal candidate will be hard-working, self-motivated, and appreciate all mediums of art as well as possess a comfort teaching and leading groups in art education.
Primary duties and responsibilities
The NLArts Director creates and implements NLArts programing for families and children alike to develop an appreciation for the arts through hands on learning and experiences. Programming currently includes Day Camps (summer camp, winter break camp, spring break camp, and day off camps), community fundraising events and art history events. The Director also provides administrative, fundraising, and marketing direction for the organization. This is a part-time, year-round position that includes several full-time weeks during the scheduled summer camp. The Director reports to the NLArts Board of Directors.
The NLArts Director will be responsible for running all aspects of the camp including hiring and training staff, creating lesson plans, organizing trips, and building new programs as appropriate. Administrative duties include applying for grants, managing social media and website, as well as financial aspects of processing payments. The NLArts Director will become a vital member of the Northern Liberties community, building a base of parents, civic leaders, and volunteers to further the mission of NLArts. The successful candidate will align their work with the Community and serve as a lead representative of the NLArts organization. The Director attends NLArts board meetings and helps with fundraising by soliciting donations from local businesses and promoting events both inside and outside of the community.
Experience working with children
Thorough knowledge of various forms of art and educating through the arts
Experience developing and implementing program plans and budgets
Team player with positive attitude and strong communication skills
Ability to inspire teachers and develop a strong working team
Ability to relate to a diverse range of people and exercise cultural humility and inclusion
Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent listening and problem solving skills.
Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets
